Sapphire optics can be used in a variety of applications requiring high durability or a large spectral range, including semiconductors, FTIR spectroscopy or FLIR imaging. Sapphire is the second hardest crystal, and it has a variety of properties that make it suitable for harsh environments, including ultra-high surface hardness, high thermal conductivity, and high resistance to chemical acids and bases. Compared to many standard optical materials, sapphire optics offer a thinner design with a transmission range of 0.15-5.5μm for optimal performance in UV to mid-infrared light.

We offer a wide range of sapphire optics for a range of applications, including ball lenses, aspherical lenses or window pieces. Sapphire ball lenses have a high refractive index and are suitable for minimizing the distance between the fiber output and the lens. The sapphire hemispheres of Etmont Optics greatly simplify installation and system integration. In addition, ruby-doped sapphire ball lenses are also available for easy handling.

Sapphire optical component characteristics:

With ultra-high surface hardness and chemical resistance, it transmits wavelengths between UV and mid-infrared and is thinner and stronger than standard glass window pieces
